How did that feel? You just breathed. Did you feel the oxygen coursing through your veins bringing life and revival to all you organs? Did you feel the relief as you breathed out toxic gasses? We can’t see the air we breathe, but we know it exists because we continue to live. Are you ready for a deep analogy involving air and the spiritual realm?
The spiritual realm exists
In fact, it’s just as real as air, and most of the time it’s just as invisible. But you can be sure that you’re “breathing it in”. Before we go on, I need to make sure you understand this: just because you can’t see, feel and taste something, it doesn’t mean that the thing doesn’t exist. That’s exactly why I’m asking you to consider air. Just as you know air exists because it has a direct effect on your body, you can know that there is such a thing as a spiritual realm because it has a direct effect on your soul (you’re being). And just as air is composed of healthy and harmful gasses, so there are harmful things in the spiritual realm just as well as there are healthy things.
Life-giving oxygen; isn’t it wonderful? Day after day and it sustains your life as you go about your daily activities. Without it, your body won’t live long. You soul needs its own type of oxygen. It needs God. It needs His truth; His grace, His love, His peace and so much more. These are the things that cause your soul not just to survive, but to thrive. They sustain your soul and give it the strength to go about it’s daily activities. Without it, Your soul can’t live the rich, abundant life that God intended for you to live in.
Carbon monoxide is another gas; colorless, odorless and tasteless. When breathed in, it takes the place of oxygen and slowly suffocates the person. Perhaps one of the scariest things about it is that you can’t tell when it’s happening to you. The carbon monoxide of the spiritual world is Satan and his lies. Similar to carbon monoxide, his lies are breathed in without our realizing it. They’re often engrained in our culture; lies that we have collectively believed and have become the norm. Satan’s lies suffocate us and prevent us from enjoying the riches of abundant life in Christ as we were intended to. They lead to depression, bitterness, and anger. They cause our souls to wilt, wither and rot.
Are you getting the oxygen you need?
You need oxygen for your soul; we’ve already established that. The question is, are you getting your oxygen? How do you control what you breath in?
